IT Management
So, I've progressed this far into my career. I'm now the Senior Director of Information Technology and Software Development. What was my first official project? Well, I had to create a proposal for a $200,000 PC/licensing purchase that covers the next year. This includes any expansion and a movement in our company toward telecommuting. Now, I've gotten the impression that the numbers I put in this proposal weren't that important; I've only been in the job for two weeks, not exactly enough time to develop the contacts I need to negotiate on a purchase of that kind. I did knock off $12,000 from the price of PCs, but that's only because the idiot who got the original quote is...well...a fucking moron. So, what was the purpose of this. It's an exercise in Bull Shit really. What sets my proposal apart from anyone else's? I know how to format a Word document so it looks pretty. All my years of I.T. training have gotten me to this point. Wait until I start sending Excel spreadsheets to the CEO. I'll be the next CIO in no time. So, this is management?

You asked, "So, this is management?"
Hell, no. Even if all you did was put together a spreadsheet, you're still doing about four times more than any manager I've ever seen.
